Most clinic owners don't know how the month went until the month is over

The Monday Margin Check gives PT, OT, and SLP clinic owners three numbers to review every Monday morning, while there's still time to do something about them. About fifteen minutes a week.

The earlier read

You can't go back and fix a week that's already over.

By the time the monthly numbers arrive, the schedule either filled or it didn't. The cancellations already happened. The new evals came in or they didn't. The monthly report is useful, but it lands after the month is over, and it tells you about a month you can no longer change.

The Monday Margin Check is the clinic's version of taking vital signs. You check a patient's vitals to spot a problem before it becomes a crisis. This works the same way, pointed at the business instead of the patient.

Two numbers look ahead at the schedule in front of you. One looks back at the week that just ended. They won't tell you your profit. They'll tell you what kind of month is taking shape while there's still time to act.

Together, these three numbers answer three questions every clinic owner should know on Monday morning:

Q1Do we have enough visits scheduled?
Q2Do we have enough new patients coming in?
Q3Are patients showing up for the visits we've booked?
What you'll check

Three vital signs, every Monday morning

01 / AHEAD

How full your schedule is this week and next

Find open visits Monday morning while you still have time to fill them. Empty slots you see on Monday are usually fixable. Empty slots you notice on Friday are history.

02 / AHEAD

New evals on the books this week and next

New evals drive future visits. A slowdown here often goes unnoticed because current patients keep the schedule looking full. By the time the bank account feels it, the problem often started weeks earlier.

03 / BEHIND

Last week's arrival rate

What showed up versus what was scheduled. One missed visit is noise. A pattern is a problem. Once you can see the pattern, you can address it.
